This is an email from my Spanish agent who was to attend the London Book Fair.

“Dear Colleagues,

The best-laid plans have no chance in the face of nature on a rampage.  After 24 hours of searching for alternative routes and checking updates in the volcanic activity over Northern Europe, we have decided that the wisest decision is not to travel to the London Book Fair.

We had worked hard to prepare an excellent schedule and know that there are many exciting new projects to show.  However, I feel that the current chaos in any form of travel to London, the fact that today we have had at least 12 meetings already cancelled as the editors have cancelled their trips to the fair, and the uncertainty of when we would be able to return safely from the fair, all make staying in Barcelona the best option.

We will plan extra travel in Spain and Portugal, where we can visit publishers individually and with more time, to compensate for missing the book-fair.

With our good wishes
Angela”

There weer reports that this years LBF was to be the busiest one in a long while. Obviously this is not to be.
